Popular questions
Should I learn in a manual or automatic car?
Both are the same price with us. A manual licence lets you drive manual and automatic cars. An automatic licence only covers automatic cars, but many learners find automatics quicker to get comfortable with because there is no clutch or gears. If you're unsure, message us and we'll help you decide.
How much are your driving lessons?
Lessons are £35 per hour (normally £39). Most learners book 2-hour lessons for £70. New learners can have their first 2 hours for £60, and blocks of 10, 15, 20 and 30 hours cost less per hour. See our lesson prices for the full list.
How does online booking work?
Choose your course, pick manual or automatic, tell us about your driving experience and enter your details. You then pay securely through Stripe. Once your payment goes through, we match you with an instructor who will contact you within 24 hours to arrange your first lesson.
Why do I only pay £100 for a block or intensive course?
For 10, 15, 20 and 30-hour blocks and for intensive courses, you pay a £100 advance online to get started. The remaining balance is paid after your first lesson, once you are happy to continue, as agreed with your instructor.
What if I am not happy with my instructor?
Tell us and we will arrange a change of instructor. If you still decide not to continue, we will refund any unused lesson hours you have paid for, no questions asked. Lessons already taken and lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice are not refundable.
Do you offer lessons in the evenings and at weekends?
Yes. Lessons are available 7 days a week, including evenings and weekends, depending on instructor availability in your area.
Lessons
How long is a driving lesson?
Our standard lesson is 2 hours. You can see the hourly rate on our prices page, but we recommend 2-hour lessons because they give you time to warm up, learn something new and practise it properly.
Why do you recommend 2-hour lessons?
In a 1-hour lesson, a good part of the time goes on getting started and finishing. Two hours lets you spend longer actually driving and makes it easier to build on what you learned earlier in the same session.
What happens on my first lesson?
Your instructor will check your provisional licence and eyesight (reading a number plate at 20 metres), then talk through what you want to achieve. If you are new to driving, you'll start somewhere quiet with the controls and moving off and stopping. If you have driven before, your instructor will see where you are and plan from there.
I have never driven before. Can I still book?
Of course. Many of our learners are complete beginners. A 2-hour lesson or a block of standard lessons is usually the best way to start. Intensive courses are better suited to learners who already have some experience.
Where will my instructor pick me up?
Your instructor can pick you up from home, work or university within the areas we cover. Let us know the postcode that suits you best when you book.
Can I choose a male or female instructor?
We have both male and female instructors. Tell us your preference in the "Anything else we should know?" box when you book and we will do our best to match it, subject to availability in your area.
Do you have instructors who speak other languages?
Yes, we have multilingual instructors. Mention the language you would prefer when you book and we will try to match you with a suitable instructor.
Prices & payment
What is the new learner offer?
If you are booking with Learn Quick for the first time, your first 2-hour lesson is £60 instead of £70. It is one offer per learner.
Is there a difference in price between manual and automatic?
No. Manual and automatic lessons cost the same.
When do I pay the remaining balance?
For blocks and intensive courses, the remaining balance is paid after your first lesson once you are happy to continue. Your instructor will explain how to pay. If you contact us on WhatsApp we can also arrange payment by bank transfer.
How do I pay online?
Online payments are taken securely by Stripe by card, and may include options such as Apple Pay or Google Pay depending on your device. We never see or store your full card details.
Intensive courses
What is an intensive driving course?
An intensive course fits more driving into a shorter period, so your skills build while they are fresh. We offer 6, 10 and 15-hour courses in manual or automatic cars.
Which intensive course should I choose?
As a rough guide: 6 hours suits learners already close to test standard, 10 hours suits learners comfortable with basic control who need more practice, and 15 hours suits learners who have driven before but aren't yet near test standard. If you are unsure, message us and we will help you choose.
Will an intensive course guarantee I am ready for my test?
No one can honestly promise that. Everyone learns at a different pace. Your instructor will give you honest feedback on your progress and tell you if they think more practice would help.
Does an intensive course include my driving test?
Our intensive courses are tuition packages. The practical driving test fee is paid to the DVSA separately.
I failed my test. Can you help?
Yes. Tell us what came up on your test when you book. Your instructor will focus on those areas and help you rebuild your confidence before you try again.
Other lessons
Can learners have motorway lessons?
Yes. Learner drivers can take motorway lessons with an approved driving instructor in a car with dual controls. They are also useful for newly qualified drivers who want more confidence on fast roads.
What is a mock driving test?
A 2-hour session where you drive under test-style conditions on local roads, followed by a debrief explaining what went well and what you need to work on before the real test.
I learned to drive abroad. Which lessons should I book?
Our international driver lessons are designed for you. Your instructor will help you adapt your experience to UK road rules, signs, roundabouts and the standard the examiner expects.
How does driving test car hire work?
You can use one of our dual-controlled tuition cars for your practical test. Prices start from £100. The final price can vary — for example with the test centre and test time — and we will confirm it with you before test day.
Cancellations, refunds & booking
What is your cancellation policy?
We need at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or move a lesson. If a lesson is cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, the booked lesson hours may be charged.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, for unused hours. If you decide not to continue, we refund any lesson hours you have paid for but not used, no questions asked. Lessons already taken, and lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice, are not refundable. See our Terms & Conditions for full details.
How quickly will my instructor contact me?
After your payment goes through, we match you with an instructor. They will contact you within 24 hours to arrange your first lesson. Start dates depend on instructor and learner availability.
What do I need to bring to my lessons?
Your valid provisional (or full) driving licence, and glasses or contact lenses if you need them to drive. Wear comfortable, flat shoes.
